A gastric simulator was a medical instrument to treat the stomach referenced in an early version of the script for Star Trek. [1]

In that version, upon Montgomery Scott transporting Captain Christopher Pike, Spock, and James T. Kirk back from the Narada, Doctor Leonard McCoy scanned Pike's injuries and diagnosed "we're gonna need gastric stimulators."
