Gamma Tauri

Gamma Tauri, also known as 54 Tauri, was a planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.

It was a single star system with the yellow giant Prima Hyadum (the proper name for Gamma Tauri) as the primary of this system.

In this system, there were at least four planets.

History

In 2364, the crew of a Ferengi D'Kora-class freighter stole a T-9 energy converter from an unmanned Federation monitor post on Gamma Tauri IV. (TNG: "The Last Outpost")

Stellar cartography

The Gamma Tauri system was visible from Earth in the constellation Taurus. This system was approximately 154 light years from Sol.

In 2259, the location of this system was labeled in a stellar cartography chart seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. (SNW: "Children of the Comet")

In 2324, the location of this system was labeled in a chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. (Star Trek: Section 31)

This star system was only mentioned in writing.
Information on this system was derived from the episodes, from the reference works Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, and from real world sources. The reference works were used extensively in the creation of star charts seen in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. The real-world information added to the article was current as of 2025.
The primary of this system was classified as a G-class star by the Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 37) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385").
