Gamma 400 star system

The Gamma 400 star system was an inhabited planetary system located inside Sector 25712 in the Beta Quadrant. This system had a planet upon which Starbase 12 was founded in the mid-22nd century. It was the Federation command base for the sector. (TOS: "Space Seed"; TNG: "Power Play", "Aquiel")

History

In 2267, this system was the original destination of the USS Enterprise when it took the SS Botany Bay in tow. After a failed spacejacking, Captain James T. Kirk decided to transport the crew of this ancient spacecraft to Ceti Alpha V which was lying on the Enterprise's route to Gamma 400. (TOS: "Space Seed")

Stellar cartography

In 2256, this system was mentioned with Starbase 12's name on the star chart "Alpha/Beta Quadrant Overview" in the ready room aboard the USS Discovery. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")

In 2257, during the first Federation-Klingon War, this system was occupied by the Klingons. (DIS: "The War Without, The War Within")

In 2258, the system's location was labeled on a star chart seen on the main viewscreen of the USS Enterprise. (DIS: "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2")

The current location of Gamma 400 star system in the Beta Quadrant was based on the most recent star charts seen in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Section 31.
