Gamelan system

The Gamelan system was an inhabited planetary system located in a sector of the Alpha or Beta Quadrant.

Components

Stellar system

This was a single star system consisting of the primary Gamelan.

Planetary system

There were at least five planets including the inhabited Gamelan V, in this system. Gamelan V was located in the system's habitable zone. Between Gamelan V and its sun, there was the Meltasion Asteroid Belt.

History

On Stardate 44307.3, an unmanned garbage scow filled with highly radioactive waste material drifted into orbit of Gamelan V, threatening the planet's inhabitants.

The starship USS Enterprise-D responded to the planet's distress call, pulling the vessel out of orbit and tractoring it into the sun, where it would meet its harmless destruction. (TNG: "Final Mission")

In the script for "Final Mission", Gamelin was listed in the pronunciation guide, where the term was pronounced "GAM-uh-lin".
