Gal was a slang term for girl or woman.

In 2365, Texas said about a poker-playing Vanessa, "That gal has got to win." (TNG: "The Royale")

In a 2374 Hirogen simulation of World War II, Chakotay said about Kathryn Janeway, "You're a gung ho kind of gal, aren't ya?" (VOY: "The Killing Game")
