A forward DFI sensor was a sensor component in the body of the NX-Alpha and NX-Beta.

In 2143, a pre-flight schematic of the NX-Alpha included a callout of the forward DFI sensors. (ENT: "First Flight")

In real NASA terminology, DFI often means Developmental Flight Instrumentation. [1]
