Finger crossing was a gesture performed by crossing one's middle finger over the index finger, in the hopes that it would bring one good luck. (VOY: "The Disease")

In 2151, Jonathan Archer noted the crew of Enterprise NX-01's successful installation of phase cannons on the ship, and his hopes for a successful test, adding, "Everybody has their fingers crossed, including me."" (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

In 2370, Sam Lavelle crossed the fingers of both his hands, intoning "Think promotion. Promotion. Promotion." Taurik asked the Human if he really believed such a gesture would affect his crew evaluation score. (TNG: "Lower Decks")

In 2375, Kathryn Janeway suggested Jippeq keep his fingers crossed regarding the success of his generational ship's warp drive repairs. Later, when they seemed unsuccessful, Jippeq commented, "So much for finger crossing." (VOY: "The Disease")
