A field gen overthruster was a component of both the port and starboard nacelle aboard the NX-Alpha and NX-Beta.

In 2143, a pre-flight schematic of the NX-Alpha included callouts of both the port and starboard field gen overthrusters at the front of each nacelle. (ENT: "First Flight")

This component may be a reference to the oscillation overthruster from The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.
