Extra

An extra was a background fictional character who had little importance to the overall story.

In 2381, during the Crisis Point II: Paradoxus holoprogram, ______ told __ fellow players they had no time to "chat up the extras." Later, when Brad Boimler expressed an interest in going off on a different tangent, Beckett Mariner asked him whether he meant (following) "these random extras?", such as Knicknac. The term also refers to background performers in a film or television show.
