An excruciator was a handheld Cardassian interrogation and torture tool used to deliver a painful shock to its victims.

In 2381, Ensign Beckett Mariner was running a holodeck program that involved escaping a Cardassian detention center, in which a Cardassian interrogator shocked her using an excruciator. Mariner was able to kick the excruciator out of the interrogator's hands, and undo her restraints. (LD: "Strange Energies")
