Exaggeration
Exaggeration or overstatement was a rhetorical device or figure of speech in which something was described as more extreme than it was in reality, often for emphasis or effect. It could involve amplifying characteristics, qualities, or situations to create a dramatic or humorous effect.
When the face of a humanoid with enormous ears and crooked pointed teeth was shown on the viewscreen, Tarr agreed with the crew that the ugliness of the Human was not an exaggeration. (TNG: "The Last Outpost")
