Evan Carlos Somers (2 July 195811 October 2010; age 52) was a writer who worked on three episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and one episode of Star Trek: Voyager. He was interviewed in The Official Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Magazine issue 6, pp. 57-63 by Bill Florence for the article "Evan Carlos Somers: Writer".

Somers became a quadriplegic at the age of 16 after diving into a pool and hitting his head. His experiences influenced the design of the wheelchair in "Melora". (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 93)

Beside his work on Star Trek, Somers also wrote episodes for Baywatch (1996, directed by Reza Badiyi), Space Cases (1996), and Beast Wars: Transformers (1998, with voice actor David Sobolov).

Somers wrote, directed, executive produced, and starred in the 2005 documentary The Seeker. He was remembered in the 2012 documentary CinemAbility: The Art of Inclusion which also featured David L. Lander and Benito Martinez.

Somers died in his sleep on 11 October 2010.
