Elena Juatco
Elena Juatco (born 8 June 1985; age 40) is a singer and actress who played Hy'Rell in the Star Trek: Discovery fifth season episode "Labyrinths".
Juatco first gained fame in 2004, as a contestant in the second season of the talent show Canadian Idol at the age of eighteen. She finished sixth place and returned two years later as the show's Roving Reporter. She then ventured into musical theatre and appeared in stage productions of Kinky Boots and Les Misérables in Toronto. She also appeared in the 2008 film Repo! The Genetic Opera, starring Paul Sorvino.
In 2015, Juatco was a regular in Open Hearts, which was cancelled after only twelve episodes. Patrick Kwok-Choon also played a regular role in this series and Jonathan Whittaker was a recurring guest star. From 2019 to 2021, Juatco co-starred in Jann, where Hannah Cheesman guested in an episode.
She also starred in a number of romantic TV movies, Inn for Christmas (2020), Unlocking Christmas (2020), A Mistletoe Match (2022, with Andrea Davis), and Finding Mr. Right (2023).
She guested in episodes of series such as Transporter: The Series (with Lisa Berry and Michael Reventar), Odd Squad (with Alex Spencer), Killjoys, Hudson & Rex (with Billy MacLellan), and Schitt's Creek (with Karen Robinson and Huse Madhavji). In 2023, she played a recurring role in the second season of SurrealEstate (with the voice of Patrick Kwok-Choon and directed by Melanie Scrofano).
Juatco released her debut album of original songs, "Beyond This Line" in 2015.
