Dystopia

A dystopia was a society fraught with oppression and want.

In 2259, when discussing her earlier fears over a time travelling Brad Boimler's then-unknown location, Beckett Mariner referred to 21st century San Francisco, circa the Bell Riots, as having been dystopian. (SNW: "Those Old Scientists")
