A download was the process of receiving files from a computer. Its counterpart was an upload.

In 2364, the answer to Polywater intoxication, including a formula and cure, was downloaded and fed into Doctor Beverly Crusher's medical banks. (TNG: "The Naked Now")

In 2365, the USS Enterprise-D downloaded the logs of the USS Yamato, which also transferred parts of the Iconian software transmission to the Enterprise. (TNG: "Contagion")
