Double-talk

Double-talk was the deliberate use of confusing language to obscure one's true meaning and motivations.

In 1969, John Christopher, confused at James T. Kirk's 23rd century jargon, told Kirk not to give him any double-talk. (TOS: "Tomorrow is Yesterday")

In 2267, Kirk expressed frustration at Lazarus's double-talk about dilithium crystals. (TOS: "The Alternative Factor")

Kirk's explanation of the made-up card game fizzbin (TOS: "A Piece of the Action") and William T. Riker's false description of the workings of the main computer of a Galaxy-class starship (TNG: "Rascals") would also fall into the category of double-talk.
