Disavow

To disavow something was to deny knowledge of it.

In 2384, Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway warned the young crew of the USS Protostar that Starfleet would disavow any knowledge of their actions were they to be caught by the Vau N'Akat and for better or worse, they were on their own. After being caught by the young Asencia, Jankom Pog called out for her not to shoot because "Starfleet disavows us." After the crew's capture, despite Janeway's warning, she launched a rescue mission for them rather than disavowing the crew. (PRO: "Brink", "Touch of Grey")
