Development project

A development project was a program tasked with improving a location's conditions.

As of 2268, a development project was underway on Sherman's Planet, which involved the cultivation of quadrotriticale. That year, Federation Undersecretary in Charge of Agricultural Affairs Nilz Baris was assigned to take charge of the project. He blamed James T. Kirk for the tribble infestation which resulted in the grain stores being depleted. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")

The Galaxy Class Starship Development Project was the project responsible for the development of the Galaxy-class starship. (TNG: "Booby Trap")
