Detention

Detention was a short period of custody in criminal law.

In 2268, when talking about his parole to Captain James T. Kirk, Harcourt Fenton Mudd said to Kirk, "And as detention sentences go, this one isn't too uncomfortable. And I'm back in the galaxy again!" (TOS: "I, Mudd")
