Denkir was an inhabited star system in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant.

Components

There were at least four planets in this system, including Denkir II and Denkir IV. Located in the system's habitable zone, Denkir IV was home to several species of aquatic lifeforms. (TNG: "The Naked Now", "The Child")

History

In 2328, the Denkir Orbital City, which was located in this system, was a stop on the commercial transport routes. (TNG-R: "Inheritance")

Stellar cartography

In 2367, Denkir's position was labeled on a tactical situation monitor in Captain Benjamin Maxwell's ready room on the USS Phoenix. (TNG: "The Wounded", okudagram)

In 2366, in an alternate timeline, during the Federation-Klingon War, Denkir's position was labeled on a tactical situation monitor on the bridge and in the ready room of the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise", okudagram)

Appendices

Background information

This star system was only mentioned in writing.

It can't be deduced from the star chart in which quadrant Denkir was located as there were planets and star systems from both quadrants spread throughout the chart.

The Denkir system was created by Rick Sternbach for a science fiction story which wasn't related to Star Trek.

Two of his paintings depicted the planets Denkir II and Denkir IV from the perspective of their moons. These paintings were displayed on the walls of the USS Enterprise-D by the set decorator in the first three seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. [1]
