Defensive formation omega was a starship fleet deployment pattern suitable for defending a stationary position.

As the Dark Matter Anomaly approached Earth in 3190, Fleet Admiral Charles Vance ordered all vessels other than the evacuation shuttlecraft to assume defensive formation omega, so as to protect the planet from incoming debris for as long as possible. (DIS: "Coming Home")
