Deep space communication relay audit

A deep space communication relay audit was a type of mission assigned to Starfleet starships by Starfleet Command.

In 2256, after contact with a interstellar relay was lost, the USS Shenzhou was sent to the system where it was located for an investigation into what had happened. The investigation revealed the relay had been destroyed by the Klingons as a part of a larger plan of starting a war with the Federation. (DIS: "The Vulcan Hello")
