Dave Colvin is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Brentwood, Tennessee.

He wrote the song "Gently Falls", which in 2011 was used by CBS Studios for the Star Trek: Enterprise second season episode "Carbon Creek".

In the original airing of the episode, the song used was Ray Price's "Crazy Arms", which, although far more popular; wasn't used for the Netflix and Amazon Prime showings, or the Blu-ray Disc releases.

It's not entirely clear why "Crazy Arms" was no longer used, but it's likely due to licensing or royalty issues. According to Dave Colvin's own YouTube channel, he pitched his song to musicdealers.com, and CBS Television Studios purchased it, giving him about seventy-five percent of the royalties.
