Cynthia Merrick is a Star Trek fan and member of the Adirondack's Star Trek fan club USS Tahawus. Due to a letter she sent to the production of the talk show Leeza, Merrick and the fan club founder James R. Lowe were invited to the talk show. They appeared in the episode "Your Wish is My Command", aired on 26 November 1996 and were surprised in the show with a walk-on-role in an upcoming episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Merrick and Lowe appeared as a Bajoran civilian couple in the fifth season episode "The Darkness and the Light". [1]
