Cutback

A cutback was a decrease in a business' operating expenses which was enacted to save money.

In 2371, when business was bad, Quark threatened to make cutbacks to the running of Quark's, starting with Rom's salary, which would be reduced to zero. (DS9: "The House of Quark")
