Cruelty

Cruelty was the deliberate infliction of pain or suffering on others, either physically or psychologically, often with a sense of pleasure or indifference to the victim's distress.

In 2267, Captain James T. Kirk had learned that Trelane, the puckish, childlike alien, was disobedient and cruel. (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos")
