Crankcase

A crankcase was a part of a 20th century automobile that required oil to work.

In 2371, Tom Paris noted that there was still oil in the crankcase of a 1936 Ford truck found floating in space by USS Voyager, as well as water in the radiator, and wondered if the battery was charged, and whether the truck would run. (VOY: "The 37's")
