Cortez

Ensign Cortez was a Starfleet operations officer who lived during the late-32nd century, assigned to the USS Discovery.

In 3190, during Discovery's investigation of a subspace rift, Cortez encountered a hull breach on deck 17 that he attempted to repair. Doctor Tracy Pollard found and warned him to evacuate, though Cortez believed he could seal it. The breach forced the ship to erect isolation force fields before he could escape, and he was killed being blown into space. (DIS: "Stormy Weather")
