Corazonian
The Corazonians were a technologically advanced humanoid species who inhabited Corazonia, a Dyson ring created by another species that vanished some six million years ago. Corazonians were characterized by long eyebrows and three pairs of spots on their foreheads. (LD: "In the Cradle of Vexilon")
History
When the United Federation of Planets made first contact with the Corazonians, they installed a power relay in the ring. The Corazonians eventually became members of the Federation.
The building on Corazonia housing Vexilon
In 2381, the Corazonians requested Starfleet assistance as the performance of Vexilon, the sentient environmental control computer of Corazonia, had begun to degrade, resulting in unpredictable weather and geographical anomalies. Captain Carol Freeman of the USS Cerritos found the culprit to be Vexilon's outdated operating system. However, when she initiated an update, it caused a malfunction that worsened the problem.
When Freeman attempted to activate Vexilon's safe mode, she instead triggered a full reboot that caused Vexilon to initiate regenesis: the changing of Corazonia's environment back to its default state. Freeman managed to avert the catastrophe by rerouting primary power to the power relay, allowing Vexilon to force a restart and complete the update. With Vexilon restored to normal operation, Freeman estimated he could continue caring for the Corazonians for more than another thousand years. (LD: "In the Cradle of Vexilon")
Society and culture
Corazonians making figure drawings outdoors
The Corazonians described themselves as artists and poets. Throughout the interior of Corazonia were art galleries, sculptures, and many Corazonians engaged in drawing and painting. They used an elevated train network and shuttles to move about the ring. The Corazonians shared a deep bond with Vexilon, who ensured that they lived in perpetually ideal conditions.
