Command style
Command style was a commanding officer's preferred methods of dealing with those who served under them.
In 2152, Jonathan Archer discussed Malcolm Reed's likely expectations for a posting on Enterprise NX-01, noting, "my command style lacked a certain spit and polish". Later, Reed admitted that Archer's style "does have its advantages". (ENT: "Minefield")
In 2365, Captain Jean-Luc Picard addressed Sirna Kolrami's concerns about William T. Riker's laid-back command style, saying, "The test is if a crew will follow where Commander Riker leads. His joviality is the means by which he creates that loyalty. And I will match his command style with your statistics any time." (TNG: "Peak Performance")
In 2366, Geordi La Forge and Wesley Crusher complained about Officer Exchange Program participant Commander Kurn's tactics as acting first officer of USS Enterprise-D. William T. Riker explained that Kurn's style of command was different from what they were used to, adding that "Klingons believe in obedience and a strict formality of command." Later, Kurn admitted at supper that he had to stop himself from killing Riker when he mentioned these concerns, as it would have been considered mutinous on his ship. (TNG: "Sins of The Father")
