A cognition pirate was a pirate who dealt in elements of the mind.

Aboard the Karma Barge in 3190, Cleveland Booker justified Ruon Tarka's rude behavior to Haz Mazaro by claiming that "his filter was taken from him by cognition pirates." (DIS: "All In")
