A cockatoo was a bird native to the planet Earth and a member of the parrot family.

In 2366, a cockatoo in a cage was part of Reginald Barclay's holographic program. (TNG: "Hollow Pursuits")

White Peacock, Cockatoos and Flowers was a painting by the American painter Jessie Arms Botke and depicted a white peacock and two cockatoos among an elaborate flower arrangement. The painting was on display in the office of Federation President Jaresh-Inyo in 2372. (DS9: "Homefront", "Paradise Lost")
