Christopher James Miller is a visual effects lighting and rendering technical director. He worked with Industrial Light & Magic as a Lighting Technical Director on Star Trek beginning in July 2008. [1]
Miller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University's College of Engineering. He also holds certificates in computer animation, modeling, and rigging from the Studio Arts training program in Los Angeles, California.
His first professional visual effects project was The Prince of Egypt (1998, featuring the voice of Star Trek: The Next Generation star Patrick Stewart). He then worked on several films for Walt Disney Pictures, including Dinosaur (featuring the voice of Alfre Woodard), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (featuring the voices of Leonard Nimoy, Phil Morris, and David Ogden Stiers), and Treasure Planet (narrated by Tony Jay).
Miller also did effects work on Touchstone Pictures' Gone in 60 Seconds and Unbreakable. He was later the Senior Shot Technical Director on Scooby-Doo (2002) and did pre-production work on The Passion of the Christ (2004). Between April 2004 and November 2005, he was the Lighting Technical Director for Rhythm & Hues on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005).
Miller later worked on a trio of hit films from Warner Bros. Pictures. He was both a Lighting Technical Director and Digital Compositor on Happy Feet (2006). He then worked as the Shot and Lighting Technical Director on 2007's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He was also the Generalist Technical Director on The Dark Knight (2008).
