Canis Major
The constellation star chart
Canis Major (Latin for large dog) was a winter constellation visible from Earth's northern hemisphere. The constellation contained the star Sirius, which was the brightest star in Earth's night sky and the nearest star to Sol in the constellation. Stars in this constellation were located in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
The Canis Major Constellation was partially visible on a viewscreen in the briefing room on the USS Enterprise in 2266. It was a star chart of the winter sky as seen from Earth. The constellation Canis Major was visible in the lower left corner of the chart and identified by name. (TOS: "The Corbomite Maneuver")
