Bytha

Bytha was a Klingon warrior who lived during the 23rd century. She was the daughter of the infamous General Dak'Rah and a member of the House of Ra'Ul.

Due to Dak'Rah's war crimes at J'Gal and subsequent defection to the Federation in 2257, Bytha suffered discommendation along with the rest of her House. Bytha reviled her father as a traitor and a Federation "lapdog", and sought to assassinate him to restore her family's honor. However, she was preempted by Doctor Joseph M'Benga, who killed Dak'Rah aboard the USS Enterprise in 2259. Despite welcoming her father's demise, Bytha's only pathway to restoring her family name then became killing M'Benga instead.

In 2261, Bytha planted a viridium tracker on M'Benga with the help of a R'ongovian, and then managed to charter a battle cruiser and follow M'Benga to the restricted planet Kenfori. She and two subordinates landed in a Klingon raider and pursued M'Benga and Captain Christopher Pike through an abandoned Federation agricultural research facility. They were set upon by "zombies" created by exposure to the chimera agent; only Bytha survived to confront M'Benga and Pike in a force field-protected area on the facility's roof.

Holding a d'k tahg to Pike's throat, Bytha forced M'Benga to admit that he murdered Dak'Rah, and to accept her challenge to ritual combat. M'Benga defeated her but spared her life, which in Klingon culture condemned her to a fate worse than death. Though no one else would ever know, Bytha chose to die with honor by drawing the zombies' attention to herself, giving Pike and M'Benga a chance to escape. (SNW: "Shuttle to Kenfori")
