Breen gambit

The Breen gambit was a maneuver invented by Cleveland Booker and Michael Burnham when they worked together as couriers in 3188. During an altercation with pirates in Breen space, Booker ignited a magnesium charge in a hydrogen cloud to blind the scanners of their opponents.

In 3190, Booker attempted the same tactic to evade the USS Discovery within the Dark Matter Anomaly. Burnham recognized it and knew that she could avoid the resulting heat blast by having her ship dive in low, which would in turn give her an opportunity to elude the sensors on Booker's ship. Booker, recognizing what Burnham had done, noted that she had a good memory. (DIS: "Rubicon")
