A boutonnière was an ornamental sprig of flowers that adorned a man's suit on special occasions.

In 2367, Data wore a white carnation as a boutonniere while attending the wedding of Keiko Ishikawa and Miles O'Brien. Keiko had earlier given him the flower. (TNG: "Data's Day")
