Blood donor

A blood donor was someone who would provide blood to patients who needed it as a result of illness, surgery, accidents, or disease.

Both Ambassador Sarek and his son Commander Spock shared a T-negative blood type. In 2268, when Sarek underwent emergency heart surgery aboard the USS Enterprise, Spock was able to serve as his blood donor. (TOS: "Journey to Babel")
