Bipolar disorder

Bipolar disorder was a medical condition characterized by extremes of emotion.

Following Lon Suder's murder of Frank Darwin in 2372, Kes found no tendency towards bipolar disorder in Suder's neurogenetic markers. (VOY: "Meld")

The novelization of Star Trek: First Contact suggested that Zefram Cochrane suffered from bipolar disorder, a condition which was initially treated with a cerebral implant but which he was unable to refill in the aftermath of World War III, leading him to self-medicate with alcohol.
