Biochemical stasis

Biochemical stasis was a chemically-induced state of rest and/or immobility, similar to an induced coma. It could suppress synaptic functions and hair growth.

In 2367, the Paxans used an energy field to send the crew of the USS Enterprise-D into a type of biochemical stasis. (TNG: "Clues")
