Beta Zeta

Beta Zeta was an inhabited planetary system located within Betazoid space in the Alpha Quadrant. It was a single star system containing the planet Betazed, the homeworld of the warp-capable Betazoids. In the late 2250s, this species had or was in the process of being inducted into the United Federation of Planets.

Stellar cartography

In 2259, the location of this system was labeled on a stellar cartography chart that was seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. This system's symbol had a blue color, indicating that it was affiliated with the United Federation of Planets. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Children of the Comet", "Spock Amok")

In 2324, the location of this system was labeled in a chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. (Star Trek: Section 31)

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. This star system was only mentioned in writing.Furhter information on this system could be had from the Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 36 & 48) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"; "Stellar Cartography" p. 41; "The Dominion War: Strategy and Battles, 2373-75"). The primary of the Betazed (Beta Zeta) system was classified as a G-class star. The system got its name from the 21st century Human John Burke, chief astronomer of the Royal Academy. In October 2374 or September 2375, the Dominion won the Battle of Betazed and claimed the system.
