Berengarius system

The Berengarius system was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.

A notable lifeform in this system was the Berengarian dragons of Berengaria VII. (TOS: "This Side of Paradise")

Components

Stellar system

This was a binary star system. The primary Berengarius and its companion were M-type stars.

Planetary system

In this system, there were at least seven planets, including the inhabited M-class world Berengaria VII. (TOS: "This Side of Paradise"; ENT: "Bound")

History

The Berengarius system was first explored by a Vulcan survey team in the early 2100s.

In December 2154, Enterprise NX-01 was assigned to the Berengarius system to scout for suitable planets on which the first of a series of proposed starbases could be built. Berengaria VII was a potential candidate. (ENT: "Bound")

As of the 24th century, this planet had achieved a similar importance and significance as other core Federation planets, such as Vulcan, Andor, and Earth. (DS9: "In the Cards")

Stellar cartography

The location of Berengaria VII was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country production art)

On stardate 1292.4, the location of this system was labeled in a chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. It was depicted as a Federation system. (Star Trek: Section 31)

In 3191, this system's location was labeled on a star chart. (DIS: "Red Directive")

In the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), an alternate name for this system was Berengaria.
The name of the primary came from the entry "Berengaria VII" in the Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 78.
