Bereavement leave

Bereavement leave was time off granted away from one's job or other responsibilities to mourn the death of a family member or other person.

In 2381, Starfleet officer Brad Boimler was given bereavement leave by his superior, Jack Ransom, after informing Brad that his transporter duplicate, William, was killed by a freak neurocine gas leak aboard the USS Titan. Brad, Ransom, and the general public was unaware that William's death was merely a cover in order to recruit him into Section 31. (LD: "Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus")

Beverly Crusher was presumably on some sort of bereavement leave in TNG: "Sub Rosa" when she visited the Caldos colony in 2370 to attend her grandmother Felisa Howard's funeral and related affairs.
