A Ckaptir with prominent barbels

Barbels were fleshy, slender, whisker-like sensory organs near the mouth of some species. These included animals such as catfish, as well as some humanoid species.

Many Antedians had a pair of barbels on their chins. (TNG: "Manhunt")

Antedians seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Lower Decks have prominent barbels, while those seen in Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Section 31 appear not to have them.

Reegrunions had barbels at the side of the mouth and beneath the lower lip. (TNG: "The Perfect Mate")

Ckaptirs had two pair of barbels, growing on each side of their upper and lower lips. (DIS: "Lagrange Point")
