Bacilli were a type of bacterium. One notable strain was Synthococcus novae. (TOS: "The Way to Eden")

Bacilli could be used for garden pest control, in the form of a bacillus spray. (TNG: "All Good Things...")

Some vaccines were comprised of live bacilli. In 2369, Amanda Rogers was tasked with finding the best nutrient solution to use in order to keep the bacilli alive in a stasis field. (TNG: "True Q")
