Altruism

Altruism was one's concern for the welfare of others. It was the opposite of selfishness.

In 2267, Claymare thanked Captain James T. Kirk for his altruistic offer that the Federation protect Organia from the Klingon Empire, adding that they did not need it. (TOS: "Errand of Mercy")

In Felisa Howard's diary, she noted that Ronin had no altruistic motives for his re-invention of her. (TNG: "Sub Rosa")
