Abuser

An abuser was a person who committed abuse on another. On Earth, the desire for an individual to return to their abuser was identified as Stockholm syndrome. (TNG: "Suddenly Human")

Following the discovery of Jono in 2367, a Human teenager raised by the Talarian Endar, who had evidence of two previously fractured ribs, a broken arm, and a low-grade concussion, it was thought that the teen had been brutalized by his enemies. When it was considered by Captain Jean-Luc Picard to reunite Jono and Endar, Doctor Beverly Crusher warned that "Abusers can have subtle but powerful influence over their victims." Picard, however, was not convinced that Jono had been abused, explaining that "I've talked with the father, and if I am any judge of character, I would say that he deeply cares for the boy's welfare."
