AI defense golem

The AI defense golem was a Bynar technology that created a massive artificially intelligent construct programmed to guard designated components against tampering.

Lieutenant Commander Andy Billups once installed a used coil relay he obtained from some Bynars on the USS Cerritos. When the relay malfunctioned in 2382, he and Ensign Meredith had to contend with the golem in order to deactivate it. The golem could be rebooted by holding down its power button while telling a sad childhood story to demonstrate Human emotion. However, the story Meredith told was not sad enough, and she ultimately resorted to defeating the golem with an axe. (LD: "Upper Decks")
