Villages
Description
Though they are not on every planet you might find, on occasion you may come across a village, town, or other sort of encampment where more civilized races will survive. The villages can range from a small frontier settlement, to a large, bustling metropolis. You may be surprised to find villages in the strangest places, making you wonder how they continue to live under the conditions they do.
Below is a summary of some of the villages you may come across:
Summary
- Agaran Village: Easily identified by the multiple mushrooms and spore colonies that decorate it, the Agarans are mostly friendly to travelers, and occasionally have small booths with which they will sell mushroom-related products and furniture.
- Apex Apartments: Managed by the Miniknog, these apartment buildings and small, easy-to-live-in complexes tend to be quick to establish and furnish, usually as a means to rapidly expand the influence of the Miniknog, and summarily Big Ape himself. They are heavily guarded by Miniknog soldiers, who enforce not only protection, but loyalty.
- Avali Camp (Avali Mods Required): Usually not staying in one place for very long, the Avali will set up small outposts on remote planets to scout out the area for potential settlement, or at least for harvesting resources to help their expansion efforts.
- Avian Adobes: Mostly built out of sandstone and guarded by the less-fanatical Temple of Kluex, the Avians of these communities are usually quite welcoming, willing to share their hospitality with others and provide shelter during the more roughshod weather patterns. They tend to be found on Desert Planets, but sometimes can be found on Savannahs as well.
- Avian Bazaar: Established by Avian tradesmen, these classic Avian Bazaars are a common sight across the universe, and usually have many visitors looking for more exotic goods that only the Avians can provide. Be warned, they are heavily guarded, so no stealing or trickery will be tolerated in these trade hubs!
- Felin Village (Felin Mods Required): Having a hint of Hylotl influence in their architecture, but usually well away from the water, Felin Villages are usually squat, simple, and tend to have a collection of various Felin luxuries.
- Floran Mounds: A strange-looking settlement by the eccentric Floran species, Floran Mounds are a series of small caverns that dot the landscape, usually covered with plant matter to mask their various openings and the like. Floran enjoy using this setup for their settlements as it gives them a clean view of the sky, usually in regards to making birds and other flying creatures easier to spot, and summarily shoot down.
- Floran Tree City: Classically named for the large trees that make up the majority of space among the city, the Floran enjoy these hollowed-out trees as watchtowers for the area around them, and also as a means of defense against foreign threats as well.
- Frogg Huts: While they tend not to be very sociable due to their inability to speak the common tongue, Froggs still are capable traders, and are willing to buy and sell the goods that travelers might have on them. Be wary though, some Froggs can be hostile, and will carry weapons they've taken from strangers to defend their homesteads. In some cases, you may find Frogg Huts not only among swamps, but also entwined in trees, sometimes in the company of Agarans.
- Glitch Castle: Catering to their flair for the medieval, the Glitch use their industrious ingenuity to build mighty castles, also wrought with copper and iron reinforcements. These heavily guarded structures make a stalwart defense against the harsh climates that Glitch tend to build them in; that said, it is not unheard of to find Glitch Castles even in the calmest of environments.
- Glitch Village: For those Glitch that would prefer to work off the land rather than make the land work under their heel, the Glitch also occasionally set up small farmland villages to partake in robotic farming and simpler trades such as blacksmithing and provisioning. The Glitch will commonly grow Diodia, Automatos, and Currentcorn, with which they use to feed themselves and trade with nearby regions.
- Human Encampment: With the destruction of the Earth, Humans that either were able to flee, or were already away from the Earth, now end up finding themselves in large congregations of their own race, dotted across the universe. These encampments usually have a rag-tag group of Humans, and a few ex-Protectorate or other security detail that help keep the inhabitants safe from local predators. Most of these encampments don't really possess the means of interstellar travel, so they make due with what they have.
- Hylotl Village: Proudly demonstrating their love of the arts in their architecture, the Hylotl craft beautiful, elaborate villages whenever they establish themselves on the surface. Small shrines, busy merchants, and many small homes dot the villages.
- Novakid Town: A small western-influence town that Novakids tend to congregate in; the towns are open-ended to allow Novakids to still mingle with the sun, while also able to partake in their day-to-day activities. Most Novakid Towns are welcoming of outsiders, and are willing to trade from their blacksmiths, trading posts, and even their local saloon.
- Rebel Apex: Composed of renegade Apex that have rejected the authority of Big Ape and the Miniknog, the Rebels dig themselves bunkers into parts of the planets they inhabit, and set up barricades and watchtowers to keep a watchful eye across the area. Tents and small outposts are set up in the area to tend to the injured, and to trade with locals for various supplies and goods.
- Underwater City: Only the Hylotl could take the time to effectively build what all others would think impossible, a city under the water. Most frequently found on Ocean planets, these Underwater cities are reinforced with impressive amounts of Durasteel to protect it from the crushing pressure. The Hylotl use the various currents underwater for power, with which they use for various entertainment venues, and overall lighting/power of the underwater structure.
