The primary fire is a large, piercing bolt of electricity. The alt-fire causes multiple, wide bolts of electricity to rain down the top of the screen, landing roughly on the same plane as the player. The alt-fire does work underground (no open sky necessary), and can occasionally hit enemies above your position.
